Project Overview

AEROTWIN supports the aerospace sector in responding to the twin transition: decarbonisation and digitalisation. It addresses emerging skills needs created by sustainability requirements, AI, cybersecurity and the transformation of industrial processes.

The project brings together clusters, VET providers, universities, innovation organisations and aerospace SMEs from six European countries. It will develop and test responsive higher VET curricula and modular upskilling opportunities for current and future aerospace professionals.

Objectives

  • Map emerging skills, competence gaps and professional profiles for the twin transition in aerospace.
  • Co-design and test at least two Higher VET curricula at EQF Levels 5 to 7, such as Decarbonisation Expert and Cybersecurity Specialist.
  • Develop a flexible catalogue of at least 40 upskilling opportunities for workers, professionals and entrepreneurs.
  • Pilot curricula and modular training in every partner country, integrating physical and virtual mobility.
  • Assess learning outcomes and issue at least 150 microcredentials for upskilling opportunities.
  • Engage aerospace stakeholders through communication campaigns, local events and a final international conference.

Implementation

The work is organised in five work packages: project management; research and dynamic skills mapping; design of Higher VET curricula and the upskilling catalogue; piloting and refinement of the training framework; and communication and stakeholder engagement. At least 100 people will participate in pilot actions, supported by challenge-based and blended learning approaches.

Expected Results

  • A dynamic transitional skills map for sustainable aerospace.
  • A comparative report on skills needs and gaps across partner countries.
  • At least two jointly developed and tested Higher VET curricula at EQF Levels 5 to 7.
  • A modular upskilling catalogue with at least 40 training opportunities.
  • A piloting report, open educational resources and a strengthened European aerospace skills network.
